The BUILDUP technical workshop is a five week, six series series with Google, Twitter, UBER, Galvanize and TechCrunch starting May 26th. The workshop series co-led by Google, TechCrunch, Uber, Twitter and Galvanize is targeted at individuals considering new careers in tech, launching a startup or building a product, or interested in attending a code school. The series is also geared toward junior engineers, developers and designers, college students, or entrepreneurs looking to sharpen their current tech skill set.
This session aims to discuss the current state of the Cybersecurity field. There will be introduction to the type of jobs available in this field and the projection as to where the industry is going.

The training will focus on basic system administration material, demonstrate web application security and hopefully basic malware analysis.

Charles has a passion for advancing underprivileged and under-represented communities within the STEM community. Currently working at LinkedIn as an Information Security Professional, Charles uses his skills to protect users from malware by designing and develop means to monitor suspicious activity and respond accordingly. Charles is a continuous learner and enjoys meeting new people advancing the drive for more minorities in STEM. Charles currently is the Co-Programs Chair for CODE2040 and is a Stars Mentor for MACH37, a Cyber Security Accelerator Program. Charles holds a B.S. from Pennsylvania State University in Information Science and Technology and a DoD Information Assurance Scholar. Charles is originally from Alexandria, VA and now resides with his wife and two kids in Fremont, CA.
